Registration
Registration process
Adults and young people can register for support with us independently using our registration form. In the case of adolescents, the parents with custody must be informed of the registration.
In the case of children, registration is made via the custodial parents.
Pediatricians, family doctors and external psychologists (for a case evaluation after 30 sessions) may also refer clients to us via email, provided that the affected person has given their consent.
In the registration form, please enter your contact details and the reason for registration. You will then receive a digital registration questionnaire by email.
We will then process your registration. You can expect to hear back from us within a week. If we are able to offer you a treatment place, you will receive an invitation to an first consultation.
Due to difficulties with the billing process, we are unfortunately unable to offer any further treatments financed through Invalidity Insurance (IV) or Accident Insurance until further notice.
Appoinment booking
The first contact with our practice is via our registration form.
If we are able to offer you a treatment slot, you will receive an invitation to an initial consultation.
Please note: If you are unable to attend an initial appointment that you have confirmed, please cancel at least 48 hours before the appointment (24 hours before for follow-up appointments). We ask for your understanding that we will otherwise have to charge you for the reserved time. Please note that the deadlines refer to working days (excluding public holidays). Example: An initial consultation on a Monday at 10:00 a.m. must be canceled by the previous Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the latest so that no costs are incurred.
Appointment types
Below is an overview of the various types of appointments available.
First consultation
During the initial consultation, our primary focus is on getting to know each other. We provide you with a supportive space to share your concerns, goals, and reasons for seeking assistance. By understanding your situation, we can collaboratively explore potential avenues for change.
At the conclusion of the initial consultation, we offer feedback based on our assessment of your situation. Together, we discuss potential next steps, which may include diagnostic clarification, psychotherapy, counseling, medication management, or referral to other services outside of our practice.
Typically, an initial consultation lasts approximately 90 minutes. For minors, at least one custodial parent or guardian is required to be present during the session.
In the case of initial consultations with adolescents, a portion of the session is conducted without parental involvement to ensure confidentiality and encourage open communication.
Diagnostic sessions
Diagnostic clarification typically involves two to five sessions, depending on the complexity of the issue. These sessions may include:
- In-depth discussions on various topics
- Reviewing the medical history of children and adolescents with their parents
- Conducting diagnostic tests
- Administering questionnaires
- Gathering information from other relevant sources, such as teachers
Each assessment session lasts between 50 to 90 minutes, with the frequency ranging from weekly to every four weeks, depending on the nature of the issue being addressed.
Feedback session
Following the assessment sessions, a feedback session is conducted, lasting between 50 to 90 minutes. During this session, your therapist will provide you with a comprehensive overview of the diagnostic assessment results and engage in a detailed discussion with you.
Together, we will explore the outcomes of the assessment and determine the most appropriate course of action moving forward. This may include recommendations for psychotherapy, medication management, or other interventions based on your preferences and needs.
Psychotherapy
If you choose to pursue psychotherapy, you will engage in regular sessions, typically scheduled every two to three weeks. These sessions can be conducted individually or, if needed, with other individuals in various settings such as individual, couple, or family settings. Additionally, online psychotherapeutic sessions are available upon request. The duration of each session ranges from 50 to 90 minutes, depending on the setting and your preferences.
The initial phase involves establishing goals—identifying what needs to be achieved for you to feel that support is no longer necessary. The specific methodology utilized will be tailored to your needs, the therapist's expertise, and any pertinent questions or concerns.
Throughout the process, you and your therapist will engage in regular reflection on the therapeutic journey and the therapeutic relationship to ensure that the support remains focused on your goals.
Once you have achieved your objectives, the treatment will be concluded. Prior to this, your therapist will discuss with you any indicators that might suggest a follow-up appointment would be beneficial.
Counseling
A counseling session typically consists of several appointments. Duration and frequency vary greatly and depend on your concerns and preferences.
Medication information session
For certain mental illnesses, medication can be beneficial. If you are considering medication or would like more information about it, we can arrange a medication information session for you (lasting 60 minutes). This session will be conducted by a doctor at our practice. During the consultation, we will provide detailed information about how the medication works, its intended effects, and any potential side effects. We will also take the time to address any questions or concerns you may have. Following the session, you can take some time to decide whether you would like to pursue drug treatment in addition to psychotherapy.
Before starting medication, we will coordinate with a doctor of your choice (such as your primary care physician) to arrange for any necessary laboratory tests and, if needed, an electrocardiogram (ECG).
We will monitor the effectiveness of the medication in conjunction with your regular psychotherapy sessions.
Aftercare
Occasionally, it can be beneficial to arrange a follow-up phase after completing psychotherapy. Upon request, we offer follow-up appointments (lasting 60 minutes) at extended intervals. During these sessions, we assess the sustainability of progress achieved and address any signs of relapse or regression. The aim of aftercare is to solidify the gains made and to prevent or promptly address any setbacks.
Referrals
Pediatricians, general practitioners and other specialists who would like to refer clients are requested to send a referral letter by email to psycura@hin.ch.
In order to process the referral, we require an e-mail address and mobile number of the referred person or a legal guardian, a description of the situation and an order.
Case Evaluations After 30 Sessions
Depending on availability, we are happy to offer case evaluations to continue psychological psychotherapy beyond 30 sessions, carried out by a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist.
To request this, please send us an email at psycura@hin.ch.
Please note that, due to capacity limitations, we are unable to take on any additional psychiatric care beyond this. This means we cannot act as a point of contact for medication-related questions or treatments.
To assess whether we can carry out the case evaluation, we require the following information from you:
- First and last name as well as date of birth of the index person
- For index persons under 18: mobile phone number and email address of a legal guardian
- A brief outline of the current situation
If we have capacity for the evaluation, we also need the following documents in advance in order to proceed with planning:
- The psychological section of the report, including the exact diagnosis on which the psychological psychotherapy is based, as well as clear information regarding treatment goals, setting, prognosis and expected duration of psychotherapy
- A signed confidentiality release form allowing the exchange between the psychologist and the psychiatrist
Process of the case evaluation:
1. After receiving the above-mentioned documents, we will contact the family to arrange an appointment at our practice.
2. After the appointment, a brief phone call between the psychologist and the psychiatrist will take place if needed.
3. The medical section of the report is then prepared and subsequently returned to the treating psychologist.
4. If the health insurance company has any follow-up questions, we will ask for your response to the open points before we provide feedback to the insurer.
If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to working with you!
