Training: More Than Just Numbers – What Intelligence Tests Reveal About Our Psyche
On 29 January 2026, we will be hosting our first in-house training on intelligence diagnostics in clinical practice. We look forward to offering psychologists and psychiatrists a concise and practice-oriented insight into the current state of intelligence research and its relevance for psychological and psychiatric assessment.
The training will be led by Dr. rer. nat. Andreas Großmann, a federally recognized psychotherapist with a cognitive-behavioural focus. He brings many years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents and families, as well as extensive expertise in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders and ADHD-related issues.
What is this training about?
Intelligence tests are far more than performance metrics. When used appropriately, they provide valuable information about cognitive strengths and weaknesses, support diagnostic decision-making and help deepen the understanding of complex clinical questions. At the same time, they require careful consideration, informed interpretation and attention to ethical aspects.
During the training, we will address:
- Foundations of the concept of intelligence and central theoretical models
- Overview of commonly used intelligence tests and their areas of application
- Indications and use in clinical practice
- Clinical interpretation of test results and report writing
- Intelligence profiles in various psychiatric disorders
- Ethical considerations and critical reflection
Who is the training for?
This training is designed for psychologists and psychiatrists working with children, adolescents or adults who wish to deepen or refresh their knowledge in the field of intelligence diagnostics.
Participants will receive 2 continuing education credits from SGPP and SGKJPP.
